WEEK 5.1: THE VALVES ARRIVE

On Monday of week 5, the solenoid valves we ordered arrived (figure 1). Right away, we checked the diameter of our valves with that of the tubing we bought for our prototype. As we expected, the tubing for our prototype is far too large to use with the valves. This was not a problem, however, because we had already planned on heading back to Home Depot again in Week 6 to purchase the components for our final product. We plan on purchasing some sort of tiered stand to build our product on. The reservoir tank will be on the top tier, the set-volume chamber on the middle, and the tube going out to the watering ring will be on the bottom tier. This way, we can fully utilize the force of gravity to move water through our system.
